Took the long way home to have a look at this thriving colony of Sleepy Oranges. Amazing to see this many anywhere in NJ. Often I was able to stand in one spot and see 6-8 individuals at once. Frequent dogfights. Senna looks very healthy but the size of this patch appears vulnerable. Observed a number of Sleepy's along the road before and after the main senna field but did not count them. Obs. made between 3:40 & 4:30 p.m. Sun and 78 degrees.
