Jesse & Jack Connor

Our yard in Port Republic
Atlantic County, NJ

Pipevine swallowtail, perhaps the same individual as two days ago, now very worn. Today tapping leaves constantly, tasting them, but did not lay eggs (as we watched, at least) though she returned to the vines again and again for more than an hour. She rested only on other plants' leaves, briefly; mostly, just flapping, tapping, flapping on the Dutchman's pipe's leaves.
