Car is on the fritz, so stuck around the backyard today to see what turned up. Photos are from my backyard. Plenty of buckeyes as they are the dominating butterfly in my yard. Two days ago, I could have sworn I saw a zebra swallowtail, but not sure (most likely a dark female tiger or spicebush). On another note, I think I've seen more dark female tigers this year than I have over any prior year. I thought the red-spotted purple, which has been hanging around, was going to land on me when I mowed the grass recently.. no doubt attracted to my sweat.

[The summer of the dark female tigers continues! Is it only a reflection of a good year for tigers in general or has something triggered a higher percentage of dark forms than usual? jc]
