Cape May Point
Cape May County, NJ
Male Monarch found mineralizing on Cape May Point beach, near St. Peter's levee, above tideline, at noon on sunny day (October 3rd). Would be interesting to know how many others have seen this behavior during fall migration.
[Observers, if you have seen this behavior, please send me an email and I will forward to David.
He is the author of The Butterflies of Pennsylvania, the co-discover of the holly azure, the creator with Pat Sutton of the Butterfly Checklist of Cape May (which sparked so many of us!), and has published widely about butterflies over the years in many journals. It is an honor to have him contribute to our log. jc]
