Sighting for July 9, 2021

Clay & Pat Sutton

Sutton GDN in Goshen
Cape May County, NJ

Clay got out into the garden more than I did today and spotted a Pipevine Swallowtail and a probable Brazilian Skipper; neither cooperated when Clay came back inside for me and a camera.

[Update: Based on the caterpillars you found on July 18 and after, I am using my awesome hindsight powers granted to the moderators of this log to declare this report from Clay our FOY Brazilian adult for 2021. Congrats to both of you. As of 7-31-21, your Brazilans are the only individuals of the species yet reported anywhere in NJ, as far as I can tell. jc]
