A brief walk just to "Hackberry corner". Obs. made around 3 p.m. mostly cloudy but near 90. Found a Hackberry Emperor laying a cluster of at least 21 eggs on American Hackberry. Went to shoot an image and oops, forgot to insert battery at home. Went back home for the battery and came back to shoot some egg images. Not sure how they will look but here they are, FYI: Gloucester County has been mist spraying for Spotted Lanternflies this spring & summer. Maybe impacting the butterfly populations here as they have been fairly poor so far.
[Thank you, Dave, for the good discovery and for the egg shot – the first photo of hackberry emperor eggs ever for our log, that I can remember, at least. Very cool to see! jc]
