Pat and Clay Sutton

Sutton GDN in Goshen
Cape May County, NJ

A Red-spotted Purple landed in a tree top, and while trying to find it up there we were psyched to find a MASS of @ 40 Mourning Cloak caterpillars in the top of one of our many Dwarf Hackberry trees (Celtis tenuifolia). Exciting find, since we'd found 3 lone caterpillars earlier in the week in odd places (2 on seedling Dwarf Hackberry trees I'd potted up while working in the garden … the birds seed them all over our yard and garden … and 1 walking across a Lily pad in one of our wildlife pond).
