1:30- 2:00. Cloudy, windy and an awesome number of mosquitoes. Bay Ave. was too windy to be worthwhile. There are a couple of places on E. Pt rd to stop at, but I soon had to run back to the car to escape the skeeters. Interesting that a patch about 4 sq. ft. had 7 ocola sk's.

[Interesting: more Ocolas in one spot than reported from any other area so far this year. Northbound migrants that have just crossed the bay, gathering for nectar before moving inland? jc]

9:30- 11:30. Cloudy with skeeters. A joy to be here! I was more interested in being present than shooting photos and counting. Pearl crescents, buckeyes, and E. tailed-blues counts are conservative. There dozens and dozens of buckeye cats everywhere.

Last stop. For no good reason, I rarely stop here. As I drove by, something caught my attention, so I turned around pulled onto the shoulder and spied a long-tailed sk. I then pulled into the parking area and walked around. The fiery made it an 11 skipper day.

[This is only our second long-tailed in South Jersey this year – and the first photographed. jc]

Obs. made from 3:42 till 4:25 with cloudy skies and light sprinkles when I was in the Beech forest. Briefly checked out the garden, and then despite the dreary conditions took a chance on finding Harvesters. Found two and photographed one. They were both inactive, but the second one was imbibing aphid honeydew. I believe this is a new late date for the species on our log. Sept. 16, 2012 was the previous late date.

[Good find, Dave, and you are correct about this as a new latest date. jc]
