Wow, what a day for November. 64 degrees, winds switched from NNW to NE by mid day. Sunny, observations made between 9am-2pm. I was continually impressed by the amount of things around that I thought for sure I wouldn’t see again for the rest of the season. Clouded was along New England rd in farmland on right side before reaching Higbee.
[Yes, a delightful mix to see…and long-tailed closing in our latest date ever (Nov 9 in 2017 and 2020).
A good full day of surveying! jc]

I believe these are the same individuals that have been here a few days. This morning, while I was watching one ragged American Lady, she kept snuggling down into the tall grasses and staying a few minutes, then coming up and repeating. She was laying eggs on the newly growing rosettes of Sweet Everlasting! Buckeyes were both nectaring on Spotted Bee Balm.
My camera isn't able to focus close enough to get sharp shot of the eggs.
[Very cool observation! Good work. jc]

Temp in mid-70s; sunny. Still some flowers here, including ones planted for cutting but never harvested (zinnias, globe amaranth, etc.). All butterflies worn, except one distant sulphur that went un-ID'd – very bright, lemony yellow w/no orange, presumably a Clouded. One male/one fem for both Sachem & Fiery skips.
