I walked the powerline cut and downstream in the bogs to the third old dike road. Not many species but it was nice to see numbers of Appalachian Browns. I added a picture of a Straight-lined Argyria. Pretty little Moth.

During guided walk 9-11am. Torrential rain came down at the beginning, and then it was cloudy for most of the time. Didn't expect any butterflies but by the end around 11am the sun peeked out. Saw these cool golden-backed snipe flies mating too.

About to explode with nectar. Aaron's Skippers were numerous and in various states of wear. The Butterfly that stole the show was Sleepy Orange ! No pic but a erratic, rapidly flying, tangerine colored butterfly can only be a Sleepy. Decided to see if my GISS meter was calibrated and see if it wasn't too early…so I headed nex to the Glynn Colony at Dix WMA… .

Late morning, Pipevine Swallowtail was a nice surprise as I didn't realize I had them here! It was attracted to the penstemon digitalis but moving so fast I just barely got a photo. Very worn Azure.
