This sulphur's appearance is what I would expect in the winter. I spent a modest amount of time looking through the SJBP Recent Sightings and saw that we have few photos of spring sulphurs. Might be nice to get some more.

My Garden
Cape May County, NJ
My first garden butterfly of the year and one of my favorites. It is not a "designer" butterfly– all fancy and tricked out…but fills in spaces others don't use and seems to always be around. Keep your eyes out for the 3-spotted flavor.
- Cabbage White 1

Intersection of 610 and rt 50
Cape May County, NJ
As I was turning onto rt 50 south this afternoon, a lady (Almost positive it was American) just about flew into my windshield. I wouldn't normally report such, but knowing that FOY Am Ladies were seen in the Cape today I thought it interesting to add to the number on this day of emergence.
- American Lady 1
David L. Amadio
Glassboro WMA
Gloucester County, NJ
Obs. made from 11:15 to 4:15, Mostly sunny and low 70's. Near perfect weather but few butterflies. Very little opportunity for decent images. Azures afforded little chance for I.D. Glassboro was not too long ago a great place for sorting out the azures, but numbers have been way down in recent years. One Mourning Cloak landed on my hat at least 4 times. It charged at me numerous times. Enjoyed the sound of its wings!
[The sounds of a butterly's wings – a special pleasure appreciated only by the truly attentive ;-)! jc]

My yard in CMCH
Cape May County, NJ
As is typically the case this time of year, I had many (at least 8) unidentified fly-bys which is very frustrating. But the E. tailed-blue more than made up for the misses.
[Yes, and it's the FOY for our log in 2023. Nice! jc]

- Anglewing sp. 1

Cape May County, NJ
First time seeing a Elfin at the UV lights for me. The Moth is a Green-Dusted Zale.
[Cool! – and the lights seem to bring out the green that we see in some Henry's in South Jersey, sometimes considered a subspecies, viridissima…or intermediates between viridissima and all brown individuals. Fun to see! jc]
- Henry's Elfin 1
Chris Herz
Audubon garden
Camden County, NJ

- Cabbage White 2

Jeanine Apgar
Home yard, Galloway Township
Atlantic County, NJ
Temps approaching 80 degrees, high humidity. I thought this was another cabbage white, but upon closer inspection, I noted wingtips of orange!
Unidentified elfin, thinking it might be a brown elfin, sorry for bad exposure!
[I am not sure about the elfin. Maybe one of our veterans can chip in on this one. jc]
[Update: after an exchange of emails, Tom Bailey and Jack Miller agreed that this was a brown elfin. That makes it our log's FOY for 2023. Good find and ID, Jeanine! And thanks to Tom and Jack for the assistance! jc]
- Cabbage White 1
